Holy hell it’s hot out here. It’s 4:00 in the morning right now and I’m still hot and sweaty, and it’s only getting hotter. it’s supposed to be around 100 all week. I know that means nothing to people other places in the world but we’re not used to this shit here in Portland. So I put together a nice little refreshing Summertime mix to share. The overall theme is light and breezy, soft and mellow. Some tracks dip down in volume level which creates a nice floating ethereal effect in my mind. Mostly just mid tempo dubby grooves that seem to fit perfectly with the heat. I did this in one take earlier today, and it could be fine tuned a bit, but fuck it it’s too hot to do anything.

So, I’d been working on this pissy minimal house/techno mix for way too long.  I recently decided to take a break from it after becoming exceptionally bored stacking shit on top of shit.  It’s summer, time for another ultra happy mix.  But for who? how about that crew of  hot blonds who work at the Perierra Creperie @ SE 12th and Hawthorne PDX?! I discovered it was one of their birthdays last week and rushed to finish it today as a little gift.  Happy birthday.  This mix uses less tracks than other mixes I’ve made in the past but i actually think it gives it  better consistency and more pronounced  overall motif.  I was going for an electrifying quasi French house sound, but without using any Lifelike tracks.   His tracks are in all French house mixes already.  Anyways this sugar drenched mix is best enjoyed while eating a sugar drenched Crepe.

If your an Intergalactic FM or CBS listener, you’ll know these two robots well.  I-f aka the brains behind Intergalactic FM and Intergalactic gary who is also a key Robot in the IFM word combine musical powers to form The Parallax Corporation.   Part Electro, italo, Disco, and House, this shit is unstopably raw and will probably beat up your other records if left in the same pile or crate.  It has a sound that could only come out The Hague.  Here are a few of my favorites + an awsome cover/remix of thier track Crocodiles in the Sky by The legendary Fred Ventura and Columbo.

Designers Republic Did a kick as job on the art

Does any one remember how awesome the Original Wipeout’s soundtrack was?  Well I’d say it’s about time to remind you.  Not only did you get an awesome futuristic hover craft racing game, but you also got an insanely kick ass spaced out techno soundtrack that would play in your CD player.  The man behind the music went by the name Cold Storage and has also released music outside the video game world, none of which has quite measured up to his Wipeout masterpiece.  I’d have to say that this had a huge part in me getting into electronic music.  I remember laying in bed listening to it while falling asleep and having all kinds of great futuristic spacey thoughts.
